A preset sets the width and target file size. You can change both.

The tool does not enlarge a smaller image and always preserves its aspect ratio.

The tool finds the highest quality that stays below this size.

Format

WebP Best default for websites. JPEG For software and websites that do not accept WebP. PNG For graphics, screenshots and images with transparency.

Quality

From 40 to 95. A higher value keeps more detail and creates a larger file.

A useful width before a lower quality

A phone photo may be four thousand pixels wide while a content card needs roughly 1200. Reducing dimensions removes far more unnecessary data than repeatedly lowering quality at the original size.

WebP, JPEG or PNG

WebP is a strong default for website photographs. JPEG is the compatibility option. PNG should be kept for graphics, screenshots and transparency because it often makes photographs much heavier.

Check the output

Compare details at 100%, confirm the dimensions and file size, then add matching width and height attributes on the website. The new file is built from pixels and does not copy camera EXIF metadata.
